Life on Earth

The Studio Tom Emerson and 30 students reimagined the ETH Zurich garden, introducing a pavilion for cultural events on the naturally endowed Hönggerberg campus. The pavilion’s design, rooted in sustainability and flexibility, features a tent structure easily assembled and disassembled. Uniquely, the material for the tent includes fabric from an old hot air balloon, alongside reclaimed wood and climbing ropes, challenging the team to creatively repurpose these elements. The distinctive design showcases a central A-frame, with ropes stretching to semicircularly arranged wooden poles, marrying eco-conscious materials with innovative architectural solutions.
