ShadowTransitions - Connecting Neighborhoods in Neuperlach

This project revitalizes the iconic Neuperlach bridges in Munich, integrating them into the urban fabric as vibrant communal spaces. Designed in the 1960s and 1970s to separate pedestrians from traffic, these bridges now face challenges like maintenance and accessibility. The initiative introduces a modular shading system to mitigate heat and enhance social interaction, making these spaces more appealing and accessible. A reflective sail prototype, adjustable to sun positions, has been installed on the Jakobus Bridge, demonstrating the potential for combining functionality with social value, and contributing to sustainable urban development.
